She has loved being at the forefront of the social wave @FLBlue. A marketer with ten years’ experience, Kate is also a wife and mom to two children.
When not at work, you’ll find Kate listening to NPR in her car, reading teen literature (she just wrapped up The Hunger Games trilogy), and spending hours in the kitchen cooking recipes from the latest issue of Cooking Light. Carmella Sebastian, MD, MS
Senior Medical Director of Clinical Client Solutions at Florida Blue
In her role, Sebastian provides leadership for the clinical aspect of sales including issue management and client reporting for current and prospective employer groups. In addition she is the Medical Director Lead for the wellness program, Better You From Blue. Dr. Sebastian also is a provider liaison, and advises on Florida Blue’s medical policies and programs.
Sebastian graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania with an MD and then earned her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from King’s College in Pennsylvania. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and was in active clinical practice before joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Northeastern Pennsylvania. She was their VP of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for 13 years. She then served as Market Medical Officer with Humana for Central and North Florida for five years.
Dr. Sebastian has a special interest in wellness programs and is Welcoa certified. She resides in Tampa with her husband Louis and two daughters.
John Padgett
Tallahassee’s Florida Blue Center Leader
John has a passion for resolving member issues and increasing customer satisfaction. He loves the culture and people in his adopted home town of Tallahassee and sits on the board of directors for the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
John is currently attending online classes at Florida State College and has plans to transfer to Florida State University in the near future. John enjoys gadgets of all kinds including home theater, video games, and all things Apple. He also enjoys reading about leadership and politics, and anything related to Steve Jobs.
John has been married to his wife Amanda for almost 5 years and they have a 4 year old Samoyed named Magnus. He enjoys keeping up with social media so feel free to follow him on Twitter or join him at LinkedIn.
Jason Altmire
Senior Vice President of Public Policy
Jason Altmire is the Senior Vice President of Public Policy, Government and Community Affairs at Florida Blue. He is a former Congressman from Pennsylvania and served from 2007 to 2013. While in the U.S. Congress, Jason was a nationally recognized leader in health care policy. A graduate of Florida State University and George Washington University, where he received his MHA, Jason now lives in Jacksonville with his wife and two children.
