If you’re considering applying for a Florida Blue Center sales position, you should know that what makes the Florida Blue team so special is that we are not just a team; we are a family. We look after one another, guide each other and support one another. It’s rare to find a career where you truly enjoy going to work every day. I feel blessed to have found one.
I had no experience selling insurance products prior to being offered a position with Florida Blue, fortunately, there was not just one person guiding me in my new venture, I had a whole team eager to coach the rookie. Obtaining my license was simply a matter of setting aside time to study for several weeks. The information required to obtain my insurance license actually laid the foundation for all the knowledge I needed to become successful at Florida Blue. With my license, I’m fully prepared to help people from different backgrounds with a variety of needs. It’s my job to determine what products will meet their needs.
Before joining Florida Blue, I was a bartender and while it was a fun job, it lacked potential for advancement, security and benefits. I had a growing family, so health benefits, a stable income, and the potential to advance into a career were beginning to become more important to my family and me. Life was becoming increasingly stressful as my family of four was living in a two-bedroom apartment, and barely making ends meet. However, a chance meeting would soon change my fate.
One evening while bringing food to a table at the restaurant where I worked, I struck up a conversation with the guests seated there. By the end of the short conversation they told me I should apply for a sales opening at the new Pensacola Florida Blue Center location in town. I had no experience with insurance, but I did have some experience in sales and talking to people. That very night I researched how to get an insurance license.
I threw myself into the job, and in just two years I became the top agent at the Pensacola location and ranked third in the state! Overall, I see myself now as more confident, relaxed (and my family and friends will add “pleasant”). I am proud I have evolved into a seasoned agent myself, and now I am asked to coach other agents around the state.
