Make Your Day Easier

Whether you’re a mechanic,  a teacher or a mom, you probably find yourself using all kinds of tools to get through your day. A tool can be as simple as a screwdriver or as complex as a car. Simply put, a tool is something that helps us get the job done and if you’ve ever found yourself in need of a tool to help with your Florida Blue plan, then you’ll relate to my story.

A few weeks ago, I found myself at the dentist’s office getting ready to go back for surgery when the nurse handed me my prescriptions. My mother had offered to drop them off while I was in surgery and asked me for my Florida Blue ID card. I looked in my wallet and searched my pockets and then it dawned on me. My ID card was in Tallahassee and I was about 300 miles away in Jacksonville.

I was about to tell her to not worry about it when I remembered that the answer was in right in my hand. I opened up my Florida Blue app on my iPhone, logged in, pulled up my member ID number, sent it as a text to my mom and off I went. A couple hours later I came out of surgery and found my mom waiting with a smile, a hug and my prescriptions. The Florida Blue mobile app (and Mom) had saved the day!

If you’ve ever found yourself in a similar predicament, then the Florida Blue mobile app can be just the tool for the job. You’ll want to register at floridablue.com ahead of time. Get started by gathering your Florida Blue ID number which is located on your member ID card. You’ll also need your name, date of birth and zip code. Because this account contains your health information, I recommend that you think of a secure user ID and password.

Once you have everything ready, you can click here to register at floridablue.com.  Go ahead and enter the information we collected earlier and after a few clicks, you’ll be done!

This is also a good time to get the Florida Blue app that I mentioned earlier. You can download it at the iTunes Store for use on iPhone and iPad and at the Google Play store for Android devices. The cool thing about the app is that it uses the same login information from your floridablue.com account so you won’t have to remember another sign on. We’re going to spend some time looking at all of the other features of the app in a later post – so stay tuned!

If you’re interested in a personal tour of floridablue.com, then you’ll want to stop by one of our 11 Florida Blue Centers across the state … just tell them John sent you.

Hearing from you means a lot, so take a minute to drop me a line in the comments below and join me for my next post where we’ll take a look at some of the best health apps in the market.

As the “mom”, I was happy to be there for John and thankful I could assist him in any way possible. John is equally happy to have this opportunity and assist everyone of us!

Thanks John for the good blog.
I used the mobile app a few months ago while sitting in an exam room at a doctor’s office. The doc wanted to prescribe a new medication so I was able to check and see if it was a formulary drug as well as determine the tier of the medication.
